EZ Gel PRF  /  Is It Right For Me?
Choosing A Treatment · Denver, Colorado

Six tools. Yours might not be this one.

EZ Gel compared honestly against everything else we could do instead — plus the eight things it does not do, and the patients we tell no.

Four Names, Four Things

PRP, PRF, PRFM, EZ Gel — not interchangeable.

These four names get used as though they mean the same thing, including by clinics quoting you for them. They do not. Here is what each one actually is, so you can tell what you are being sold.

PRP

Platelet-rich plasma

The original. Your blood is spun with an anticoagulant to separate a plasma layer rich in platelets, which is then injected. It is liquid, it disperses quickly, and because an anticoagulant is used, there is no fibrin scaffold holding it together. PRP is still used widely and there is more published research on it than on any of the others — but it releases its growth factors over a short window rather than gradually.

FormLiquid
AdditivesAnticoagulant used in processing
Fibrin scaffoldNo
Where it fitsSkin quality, hair, and as a base for other protocols

PRF

Platelet-rich fibrin

Spun differently — slower, and with no anticoagulant — so the blood is allowed to form a natural fibrin mesh. That mesh traps platelets and white cells and holds them in place, so the growth factors are released more gradually rather than all at once. Liquid PRF is still injectable and still thin; it is what we use when we want tissue-quality support rather than any structural effect at all.

FormInjectable liquid, thicker than PRP
AdditivesNone
Fibrin scaffoldYes — formed naturally
Where it fitsSkin quality, with microneedling, layered under other treatments

PRFM

Platelet-rich fibrin matrix

A PRF preparation processed so the fibrin forms a firmer matrix before it is injected. The point of the extra step is a preparation that holds its shape a little longer in the tissue. You will see PRFM and PRF used interchangeably online — and sometimes both used to mean EZ Gel — which is exactly why patients arrive confused about what they were quoted for.

FormA firmer injectable matrix
AdditivesNone
Fibrin scaffoldYes — matured before injection
Where it fitsBetween liquid PRF and a gel preparation

EZ Gel

PRF + albumin gel

Two things made from one blood draw, then combined. Part of the plasma is heated — the manufacturer’s protocol takes it to about 75°C — which changes how the albumin in it behaves and turns it into a gel. That heated gel is then mixed with concentrated PRF. The result is thicker than liquid PRF and can hold a small amount of shape where it is placed, which is why it is used under the eyes. Nothing synthetic is added to it.

FormA gel
AdditivesNone — heat only, no cross-linker
Fibrin scaffoldYes, plus a heated albumin gel matrix
Where it fitsSelected under-eye and facial support, and skin quality

If a practice cannot tell you which of these four they are using on you, that is worth noticing. We use liquid PRF and EZ Gel, and we will tell you which one, where, and why.

The Honest Comparison

Six tools. Yours might not be this one.

We offer most of these and refer for the rest, which means we have no particular reason to push you toward any single one. Here is how they actually differ.

Tap any row for when we would choose it — and when we would not

Type of change
Planning consideration

We reach for it when the goal is the skin itself — texture, thickness, quality — and there is no volume problem to solve. It pairs naturally with microneedling. We do not use it expecting it to fill anything, because it will not.

We reach for it when there is genuine hollowing or thin, crepey skin, and the patient wants gradual change from their own tissue rather than a defined correction. We do not reach for it for pigment alone, for fluid-prone under eyes, or when someone wants a specific amount of volume on a specific day.

We reach for it when a hollow needs definite correction and the patient wants to see the change now, and values the safety net of being able to dissolve it. We do not use it in under eyes prone to fluid, or where thin skin would show the product.

We reach for it when the under-eye shadow is really a mid-face volume problem — supporting the cheek often does more for the tear trough than treating the tear trough. We do not place biostimulators into the under-eye hollow itself.

We reach for it when the problem is color rather than shape — brown pigment, visible vessels, surface texture. We do not expect it to change a hollow, and we will say so rather than sell a package that cannot work.

We refer when what you have is a bag rather than a hollow. It is the treatment that actually addresses it, and adding volume around a bag usually makes it more obvious. We would rather send you to the right person than take your money for the wrong treatment.

The real differentiator is not that we offer EZ Gel — plenty of practices do. It is that we can choose between EZ Gel, filler, biostimulators, laser, microneedling, skincare and a referral based on what is actually wrong.

The Part Nobody Writes

What EZ Gel does not do.

Every competitor page in Denver leads with benefits. This section exists because knowing the limits is how you end up happy with the result — and because a treatment sold on what it cannot do is a treatment you will regret.

Correct every kind of dark circle

It does nothing for brown pigment and does not remove a vessel. Those need different treatments entirely.

Remove under-eye bags

Fat that has moved forward past the orbital rim is a surgical problem. No injectable takes it away.

Replace surgery when skin laxity is the issue

If the skin no longer springs back, adding volume underneath it will not tighten it.

Give you the predictability of a hyaluronic-acid filler

How much usable gel your blood yields varies, and so does how your tissue responds to it.

Guarantee a specific amount of volume

We can tell you what we expect. We cannot promise you a measurement, and neither can anyone else.

Produce an immediate, permanent correction

What you see on the day is swelling. The real change is gradual, and it is not permanent.

Stop your face from aging

It supports tissue for a period of time. Maintenance exists because the effect is not indefinite.

Work equally well for everyone

Yield, response and result vary between patients, and some people should not have it at all.

None of this means EZ Gel is a bad treatment. It means it is a specific treatment, for a specific problem, with a specific ceiling — and you deserve to know where that ceiling is before you spend anything.

Candidacy

Who this suits, and who it does not.

We would rather turn a treatment down than perform one that will not please you. This list is reviewed against your medical history and your consent form at your visit.

EZ Gel may suit you if…

None of these guarantees a result. They make one more likely.

  • Your main concern is hollowing, shadowing from volume loss, or thin and crepey skin
  • You want gradual, subtle change rather than a visible correction on the day
  • You are willing to complete a series of three and then maintain it
  • You are in good general health and can have a straightforward blood draw
  • You have realistic expectations about how much of what you see will change
  • You have four to six weeks before anything you are being photographed for

We would steer you elsewhere if…

Some of these are absolute. Some just mean not yet, or not this.

  • Your under eyes hold fluid, or you wake up puffy most mornings
  • What bothers you is a true bag, or skin that stays creased when you release it
  • Your concern is brown pigment or a specific visible vein
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have a bleeding disorder, a platelet disorder, or are on medication that would make this unwise
  • You have an active infection or inflammatory process in the area
  • You want a defined, measurable correction that can be dissolved if you dislike it
  • You need to look your best within the next two weeks

Medications, supplements and previous treatments in the area all matter — blood thinners, anti-inflammatories, fish oil, and any filler already placed under the eye. Bring the full list, including the things you would not think to mention.

Investment

Personalized treatment. Upfront pricing.

Worth knowing before you decide: this is a course, not a single visit, and it is priced that way.

EZ Gel PRF · Denver
$2,000 · series of 3

Three treatments, four weeks apart. That is the initial course for everyone — we do not sell single introductory treatments, because one treatment will not do the job and pricing it that way is misleading.

$600 per maintenance treatment

Including the fourth treatment at six months. Most patients then maintain every four to six months — more often if you train hard, have a fast metabolism, or take a GLP-1 medication.

What is quoted at your visit depends on the areas treated and whether anything else belongs in the plan. If we do not think EZ Gel is right for you, we will tell you before you pay for anything.

Good Questions

Everything you're wondering.

This is the presentation it is most suited to. A hollow at the tear trough casts a shadow, and supporting the area reduces the depression the light falls into. It is subtle and gradual rather than an immediate correction, and how much change you get depends on the depth of the hollow and how your tissue responds.

Only some kinds. Periorbital darkness is multifactorial: it can come from hollowing, from brown or grey pigment in the skin, from vessels visible through thin skin, from fluid, from laxity, from fat that has moved forward, or from a combination. EZ Gel addresses the shadow cast by hollowing and can improve skin quality. It does not lighten pigment, remove a vein or take away a bag.

No, and this is where we differ most sharply from how the treatment is usually marketed. In a 2025 systematic review of 20 studies and 514 patients, improvement in dyschromia was reported in only 17 percent of studies. Brown periorbital pigment needs a pigment protocol: prescription topicals, sun protection, treatment of any underlying rubbing or inflammation, and sometimes the right laser.

Partially, and indirectly. Blue-purple colour is usually vessels showing through skin thin enough to see them. Improving the thickness and quality of the skin over the top can make them read less obviously, and skin thickness is the outcome with the most consistent support in the published literature. It does not treat the vessels themselves, so if one or two distinct veins are the problem, a vascular assessment is the better route.

This is the second thing it is genuinely good at. In that same 2025 review, 80 percent of studies reported improved skin thickness and 75 percent improved elasticity, which is exactly what crepiness is a failure of. Expect gradual improvement in texture and quality over a series rather than erasure of fine lines.

No. What most people call bags is orbital fat that has moved forward past the rim, sometimes with skin laxity over it. No injectable removes that, and placing volume around it can make it look more prominent rather than less. If that is what you have, the honest answer is a lower-lid surgical assessment, and we will refer you rather than sell you a series first.

It can, and this is one of the main reasons we decline to treat. If your under eyes hold fluid or you wake puffy most mornings, adding anything to that space can make the area look heavier, and post-treatment swelling tends to be more pronounced and slower to settle. We ask about this specifically at your assessment.

By working out what is causing the appearance first. Hollowing points toward EZ Gel or filler; pigment points toward a topical and laser protocol; visible vessels point toward vascular treatment; fluid points toward finding the cause of the fluid; fat herniation and significant laxity point toward surgery. Most people have more than one contributor, so the plan is usually sequenced. That assessment is the appointment, and it is the part that matters.

They carry different risks rather than one being straightforwardly safer. Because EZ Gel comes from your own blood there is no synthetic material to react to. Against that, it cannot be dissolved if you dislike the result, whereas hyaluronic-acid filler can. Both are injections into delicate anatomy and both require careful patient selection and technique. Anyone describing either as risk-free is overstating it.

It is not a permanent implant and it is metabolized by your body over months, so it does not behave the way reports of filler migration describe. It can still be placed poorly, sit unevenly or produce asymmetry, which is why conservative placement and a review appointment matter.
