WE BUILT the PRACTICE we COULDN'T FIND.

Dr. Shyanie Kumar spent her twenties with severe cystic acne and the scarring it left behind. She went looking for someone who would explain what was actually happening to her skin and build a real plan for it — and mostly found practices selling packages. Skin! Medical Aesthetics is the practice she wanted then: physician-led, honest about what a treatment can and can't do, and built around a sequence rather than a menu.

What We Stand For

Three things we will not compromise on.

Everything else about how we practice follows from these.

Physician-led

Every plan is built and overseen by a physician. That is not a marketing line — it changes which treatments get recommended, how conservatively they are dosed, and how quickly someone will tell you that the thing you asked for is not the thing you need.

Every skin tone

Richer complexions are not an afterthought here. Device selection, energy settings, and the preparation that happens weeks before a treatment are all built around Fitzpatrick IV–VI safety, because clearing one problem should never cost you an even skin tone.

No hard sell

We would rather talk you out of a treatment than sell you one that will not work. Consults are free, plans are sequenced so you can stage them, and if something you are already using is doing its job we will tell you to keep using it.

The Team

Small on purpose. You’ll know who’s treating you.

No rotating roster and no hand-offs to whoever is free. You see the same faces, they remember your plan, and every one of them came to aesthetics from somewhere serious — trauma surgery, cardiac ICU, the operating room, dermatology.

Founder & Medical Director

Shyanie J. Kumar, MD

Dr. Kumar grew up in Dallas and graduated from Texas A&M in 2010, then completed her General Surgery residency and Critical Care fellowship at the University of Kentucky in 2015. She still practices as a trauma and critical care surgeon at Saint Anthony Hospital.

Skin! exists because of her own twenties. Severe cystic acne, and then the scarring it left, sent her looking for a provider who would explain the biology and build an actual plan — and she mostly found people selling packages. That experience is why consultations here are unusually long, why nobody is oversold, and why you will hear an honest answer about what a treatment can and cannot do before you hear a price.

Lauren Dorsey, RN, Nurse Injector at Skin! Medical Aesthetics in Denver
Nurse Injector

Lauren Dorsey, RN

Lauren is an advanced aesthetic injector with more than sixteen years of surgical experience behind her, and it shows in how she works: anatomy first, safety second, technique third, and nothing rushed.

Her philosophy runs toward subtle, strategic enhancement rather than dramatic change, and she will consistently steer patients toward skin quality and long-term results over a quick fix. She is known for a gentle touch and a conservative hand, and for refusing to gatekeep information — if you want to understand exactly what she is doing and why, she will tell you.

Morgan Greeley, RN

Morgan was born and raised in Lima, Ohio, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati in 2016, and moved to Colorado shortly afterward. She married in 2020 and has a rescue dog named Roux.

She started her career in a cardiac ICU before moving into outpatient surgery, and came to aesthetics through her own history with cystic acne and scarring. She joined Skin! in April 2023, and the part of the job she cares most about is walking someone through a long skincare journey and watching their confidence catch up with their skin.

Mindy Choi, RN

Mindy is originally from the Chicago area and moved to Denver in 2020. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in 2014 and built her clinical background in emergency and cardiac care.

Her own experience with eczema and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation shapes how she practices: deliberate, precise, and heavily educational. She will explain the underlying anatomy and what is actually changing as a face ages, and she builds results over time with combinations tailored to the patient rather than to the calendar.

Jenna Hauptman

Jenna is from Omaha and took an unusual route here — a criminal justice degree and a stretch as a criminal defense paralegal before going back to school for esthetics in 2020. She has been licensed since 2021.

She started with lashes, brows, and HydraFacials before narrowing her focus to skin health, then spent time in a dermatology office working with medical-grade skincare before joining Skin!. She is firmly in the natural-results, long-game camp. Outside the treatment room she is reading, hiking, doing Pilates, or skiing.

How We Practice

The rules we run the practice by, written down.

Virtual consults are free, and honest.

Including the part where we tell you not to do something. A free virtual consult gets you a sequenced plan with a timeline and a cost before anyone books a needle.

Plans, not packages.

Treatments are sequenced so each one sets up the next. That is why our protocols run in months rather than appointments, and why we will tell you what can wait.

Safe in every complexion.

Fitzpatrick IV–VI safety is designed into device selection and preparation from the start rather than bolted on, because pigment risk is not an acceptable trade.

We say the unglamorous part.

Sunscreen, barrier repair, and a routine you will actually keep doing decide more of your result than any device does. We would rather bore you than lose your result.

Nobody gets oversold.

If what you are already using is working, keep using it. If a treatment will not move the thing that bothers you, we will say so before you pay for it.

Denver-specific, on purpose.

At 5,280 feet with around 300 sunny days a year, protocols copied from a coastal practice underperform here. Ours are built for the altitude and the seasons.

The Space

On Downing Street, between RiNo and Five Points.

A small, quiet studio rather than a clinic floor — one treatment at a time, so consults do not get compressed and nobody is being moved through. Parking is straightforward, which in this part of Denver is worth mentioning.
