Laser hair removal, on every skin tone.
We treat with the Diolaze system, which lets us run the full range of Fitzpatrick types — including V and VI, where many practices in Denver will still turn you away. Every area is planned as a package of six, and for deeper skin tones we spread those six across about twelve months rather than six. Slower on purpose.

The short version
- Can you treat dark skin?
- Yes. The Diolaze system is used across all six Fitzpatrick types. What changes for deeper skin tones isn’t whether we treat — it’s how. Conservative energy settings, aggressive cooling and longer gaps between sessions, so the same package of six runs across roughly twelve months instead of six.
- How many sessions will I need?
- Every area is sold as a package of six, because only hair in its active growth phase responds to a treatment and roughly a fifth of your follicles are in that phase at any moment. Six sessions spaced correctly catch each follicle at the right time. Maintenance after that is priced per session, as needed.
- Is it permanent?
- The honest word is reduction, not removal. Most people finish a package with a large and lasting drop in density and go months or years between touch-ups. Hormones, genetics and conditions like PCOS all influence how much regrowth you see, which is exactly why we price maintenance individually rather than pretending nobody needs it.
- Does it hurt?
- It’s tolerable. The applicator cools the skin as it fires, so most people describe a hot snap rather than sharp pain. Coarse, dense areas — bikini, underarms, a man’s beard line — are the sharpest; legs and arms are easy by comparison.
- What do I do before my appointment?
- Shave the area within about a day of coming in, and don’t wax, pluck or thread for four weeks beforehand. The laser targets the hair still in the follicle — if you’ve pulled it out, there’s nothing there to treat.
Heat, aimed at the follicle, one growth cycle at a time.
The laser emits a wavelength that melanin absorbs. The pigment in your hair shaft takes up that energy, converts it to heat, and the heat travels down to the follicle and damages its ability to grow another hair. Everything about how this treatment is scheduled follows from one fact: it only works on hair that is currently attached and growing.
Hair cycles through growth, transition and rest phases, and only a fraction of the follicles in any area are actively growing on a given day. Treat once and you affect that fraction. That’s why the package is six — spaced so that each visit catches a different cohort as it enters the growth phase. It also explains why waxing or plucking beforehand wastes a session: you’ve removed the very thing the laser needs to find.
The complication is that your skin contains melanin too. In lighter skin there’s a wide gap between the pigment in the hair and the pigment in the surrounding skin, so the laser has an easy target. As skin tone deepens, that gap narrows, and energy meant for the follicle can be absorbed by the skin instead.
That’s the problem the Diolaze is built around: sapphire contact cooling that protects the surface while the energy reaches the follicle. Combined with conservative settings and longer intervals, it’s what lets us treat Fitzpatrick V and VI rather than declining them. It takes about twice as long, and that is the correct trade.

Face, body, and the parts nobody lists.
Every area is a package of six. Full pricing for each is below — no consult required to find out what it costs.
Face and neck detail
Upper lip, chin, sideburns, jawline, front and back of neck. The areas people shave or thread constantly, where daily irritation is usually the real complaint.
The most popular request
Fast, tolerable and one of the areas that responds most reliably. A session takes minutes, and it ends the razor burn and the dark shadow that comes from shaving coarse hair.
Line, partial or full
Bikini line, partial Brazilian, Brazilian, and full buttocks, priced separately so you pay for the coverage you actually want. Among the highest-satisfaction areas we treat.
Half or full
Large areas, larger time commitment per session, and the biggest change to a daily routine. Half and full options for both.
Chest, stomach, back
Chest, stomach, lower back, full back and shoulders. Common for men, and among the areas where the reduction is most visible.
The reason many people come
Coarse curly hair and razors are a bad combination — ingrown bumps, irritation and the dark marks left behind. Removing the hair removes the cause, which matters more in skin that pigments readily.
Twelve months instead of six, because that’s what your skin needs.
Deeper skin tones have been badly served by this treatment. Plenty of places either decline outright or run the same settings they use on everyone and leave people with burns and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — a dark mark where the hair used to be, which is worse than the hair.
We treat Fitzpatrick V and VI on the Diolaze, and we change the plan rather than the promise. Lower energy per pass, cooling that keeps the surface protected, and six sessions spread across roughly twelve months instead of six so the skin fully settles between visits. You get the same package; it just takes longer to work through it.
If someone quotes you the same six-month schedule regardless of your skin tone, that is the thing to ask about. The timeline should change. If it doesn’t, the settings probably aren’t changing either.
Six sessions, timed to your hair, not the calendar.
A package that’s rushed doesn’t work, because the follicles you need to catch haven’t entered their growth phase yet. Spacing is the whole treatment.
Consult and skin typing
We assess your Fitzpatrick type, look at hair color and coarseness, and ask about hormonal history — PCOS, thyroid conditions and certain medications all change what to expect. If your hair is gray, white, red or very light blonde, we will tell you at this appointment that this isn’t going to work, rather than selling you six sessions.
Test and first session
We start conservatively, particularly on deeper skin tones, and confirm how your skin responds before increasing energy. Shave within a day of arriving; the area should be smooth with the follicle intact underneath.
The package of six
Sessions every four to six weeks for Fitzpatrick I to IV, working through in roughly six months. For V and VI, longer gaps and about twelve months. Face and small areas often need the tighter end of the spacing; legs and back the looser.
Shedding, not falling out
Treated hairs don’t vanish in the room. Over one to three weeks they push out and shed — it can look like regrowth, and it isn’t. You’ll notice the area coming back thinner and slower after the second or third session.
Maintenance, priced honestly
After the package, most people need occasional touch-ups rather than another series. Those are priced per session by area, which is why we quote them separately below instead of burying the cost in a bigger package.

What each session actually involves
Stop waxing and plucking
No waxing, threading, plucking or depilatory creams for four weeks. The hair has to be in the follicle for the laser to find it. Shaving is fine — it’s the only removal method that leaves the follicle intact.
Shave the area
Come in shaved and clean, no lotion, deodorant or makeup on the treatment area. Hair above the skin absorbs energy at the surface, which hurts more and treats less.
Ten minutes to an hour
Eye protection on, then the cooled applicator passes over the area, firing as it goes. A lip takes a few minutes; full legs closer to an hour. It feels like a hot snap, worst on coarse dense hair.
Pink around each follicle
The area looks flushed with small raised bumps around the follicles — that reaction is the sign it worked, and it settles within a few hours. No downtime. Skip hot tubs, saunas and hard workouts for a day.
The shed
Treated hairs work their way out and fall away. It can look like regrowth while it happens. Don’t pluck — shave if you need to.
Thinner, slower, finer
Most people notice a real drop after the second or third session: less density, slower return, finer texture. The last sessions catch what was dormant earlier. Results vary with hair color, coarseness and hormones.
Where laser hair removal falls short
This treatment has a well-defined limit, and most disappointment comes from nobody explaining it before payment.
It doesn’t work on gray, white or red hair, and rarely on light blonde. No pigment in the shaft means nothing for the laser to target. We will tell you this at the consult rather than after four sessions.
It’s reduction, not eradication. Expect a large, lasting decrease in density and occasional maintenance — not a guarantee that no hair ever returns. Anyone promising otherwise is selling, not treating.
Hormones can override it. PCOS, thyroid conditions, pregnancy and certain medications drive new follicles to activate. You can still get an excellent result; you may simply need maintenance more regularly, and it’s worth knowing that going in.
Waxing or plucking beforehand wastes the session. Four weeks of shaving only. This is the single most common reason a session underperforms.
Tanned skin has to wait. A fresh tan or self-tanner changes how the skin absorbs energy and raises the risk of burns and pigment change. We reschedule instead.
It won’t fix the marks left behind. Removing the hair stops new ingrowns and irritation, but existing dark marks need pigment treatment — usually the Aerolase Neo, which works on all skin types.
Laser hair removal, answered

Maintenance sessions afterwards run $70 to $250 depending on the area, and members receive 10% off package pricing.
Yes. We treat all six Fitzpatrick types with the Diolaze system. For deeper skin tones we use conservative settings with strong contact cooling and space the six sessions across roughly twelve months rather than six, which lets the skin settle fully between visits and lowers the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Six per area. Only follicles in the active growth phase respond to any single session, so the package is designed to catch each follicle at the right point in its cycle. Some people add maintenance afterwards; those are priced individually.
Because the gap between the pigment in the hair and the pigment in the skin is narrower, so we treat with lower energy and give the skin longer to recover between sessions. The package size doesn’t change — the spacing does. Going faster is how people end up with burns and dark marks.
It produces long-term reduction rather than total removal. Most people finish a package with dramatically less hair, growing back finer and slower, and need only occasional touch-ups. Hormonal changes can activate new follicles at any point in life, which is why maintenance exists as a line item.
Most people describe a hot snap with each pulse, made much more manageable by the cooling in the applicator. Coarse dense areas like bikini and underarms are the sharpest; arms and legs are straightforward. Sessions are short.
Yes, and you should if you want to. Shaving leaves the follicle intact, so it doesn’t interfere with treatment at all. Waxing, plucking and threading do — avoid those for the whole course.
The laser finds hair by its pigment, so gray, white and red hair don’t respond, and light blonde rarely does. We’ll be straight with you at the consult if that’s your situation instead of taking payment for a package that can’t deliver.
Usually, yes — and for a lot of patients that’s the actual reason they come. Ingrowns are caused by coarse hair curling back into the skin after shaving, so reducing the hair reduces the ingrowns, along with the razor burn and irritation that come with them.
You can, with sun discipline. Treated areas need protection and you can’t arrive with a fresh tan or self-tanner, which is harder to manage in July than in January. Many people start in the fall so the package is largely finished by the time shorts and swimsuits come out.
The math depends on the area and how often you currently wax. What people tend to weigh more heavily is the daily part — no shaving, no regrowth window before an appointment, no ingrowns. We’d rather you make that call with real pricing in front of you, which is why every area is listed above.
